This degree prepares students to work with individuals, families, dyads, and groups in a wide array of human and social services settings. The comprehensive curriculum provides both theoretical as well as applied/practical training in areas such as domestic abuse, child abuse, addictions, crisis intervention, family services, high-risk youth, outreach, advocacy, and human services administration.

The Human Services Suite, located at the Treasure Coast Public Safety Complex, is designed to complement and facilitate practical application of skills. The suite includes a variety of individual and group therapy rooms including a child play therapy room and is equipped with observation windows to facilitate critiquing of simulated student demonstrations. An Advanced Human Services Internship provides actual on-the-job work experience, further preparing students for the workplace.

1. Communicate knowledge of advanced human services skills through written or oral form.
2. Demonstrate aptitude in applying advanced human services skills through the facilitation of simulated or actual internship sessions.
3. Demonstrate an understanding of ethical and legal aspects of the Human Services field.
4. Demonstrate an understanding of causes and methods of treatment for trauma, addictions, and abuse-related behaviors.
5.  Explain the role of prevention and intervention programs in helping to stop cycles of abuse.
6. Demonstrate knowledge of major theoretical models related to prevention, intervention, and treatment.
